The Service
Threde is an AI-powered personal email briefing agent. It reads newsletters from your authorized Gmail account, processes them through Google's Gemini AI, and produces a curated daily digest served locally on your device. Threde is a personal productivity tool, not a news publisher, financial advisor, legal service, or professional consultant of any kind.
Acceptance of Terms
By installing, configuring, or running Threde, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of Threde, including in any future hosted or multi-user version of the product.
AI-Generated Content and Accuracy
Threde uses artificial intelligence to summarize, filter, score, and analyze email content. You expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- AI-generated summaries, headlines, and analysis may contain errors, omissions, hallucinations, or inaccuracies, even when presented with apparent confidence.
- Editorial judgments about story importance, relevance, and connection are AI interpretations, not verified editorial decisions made by a human journalist or editor.
- Threde’s “Reading Today” analysis reflects the model’s synthesis of the day’s material and may not reflect ground truth, emerging facts, or developments after newsletter publication.
- When Threde’s verification step does not complete, a notice is displayed. That notice is not a guarantee that the content is inaccurate — only that it was not verified against source material during that session.
- Nothing produced by Threde constitutes legal, financial, medical, investment, or professional advice of any kind. You should not rely on Threde output for decisions with material consequences without independent verification.
Data Processing and Third-Party Services
Threde operates through integrations with third-party services. Your use of Threde involves the following data flows:
- Gmail API (Read-Only): Threde accesses your Gmail account using Google’s OAuth 2.0 authorization framework with read-only permissions. Threde cannot send, delete, modify, or mark email on your behalf.
- Google Gemini API: The content of newsletter emails you have received — including subject lines and body text — is transmitted to Google’s Gemini AI service for summarization and analysis. This transmission is necessary for Threde to function.
- Local Storage: Briefing archives, editorial memory, your reader profile, and usage feedback are stored on your local device. They are not transmitted to any server operated by Threde’s owner.
Your use of these third-party services is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. Threde’s owner is not responsible for the data practices, availability, or conduct of Google or any other third party.
By using Threde, you consent to the transmission of your email content to Google’s Gemini API as described above.
Privacy
Threde is designed to minimize its handling of personal information:
- Threde does not transmit your data to any server other than those described in Section 4.
- Threde does not store email subject lines or sender information in its deduplication log (“processed IDs”). Only opaque message identifiers and dates are retained.
- Threde does not identify, profile, or refer to you as an individual in its outputs.
- Threde does not sell, license, or share any data about you or your email content with any party other than the third-party APIs required for operation.
Despite these design choices, you acknowledge that any system that reads and processes private email carries inherent privacy risk, and that Threde’s owner cannot guarantee the security of data in transit to third-party services.
Assumption of Risk
YOU EXPRESSLY ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR USE OF THREDE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:
- Reliance on AI-generated content that is incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading.
- The processing of private email content through Google’s Gemini API, including any risks arising from that transmission.
- Decisions made, or actions taken, based on Threde’s output.
- Security vulnerabilities inherent in software, AI systems, and network communications.
- Service interruptions, data loss, or unexpected behavior caused by third-party API changes or outages.
- The possibility that email content processed by Threde may include adversarial content designed to manipulate AI outputs.
You acknowledge that AI agents of this kind are experimental technology and that their behavior cannot be fully predicted or guaranteed.

This indemnification obligation survives termination of these Terms and your discontinuation of Threde.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Threde to:
- Process email content belonging to another person without their explicit authorization.
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service or any third-party API.
- Attempt to manipulate Threde’s AI outputs through adversarially crafted email content or prompt injection.
- Use Threde in any manner that violates applicable law, including laws governing privacy, data protection, and computer fraud.
Modifications to Terms
The owner reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will be distributed with Threde or made available at threde.ai. Your continued use of Threde following the effective date of any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. If you do not agree to updated Terms, discontinue use.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree that any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Threde shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Notwithstanding the above, the owner reserves the right to seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm.
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any applicable privacy notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and the owner with respect to Threde and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
